Online Summer 2018 Math Camp-Intro to Algebra

Overview
  • A total of  8 topics will be practiced during the summer of 2018 from  June 18th to August 10th (see curriculum for dates and details).
  • Each week, a lesson will be presented along with a YouTube tutorial (click here for the SaintGeorgeMathSchool channel).
  • Everyday, using google classroom, students will practice the topic of the week. Only 5 problems are assigned per day.
  • Problems completed by students will be turned in via Google Classroom to the teacher for corrections and feedback. Extra practice for each topic can be assigned by request.

Goals
  1. Have students learn or review algebraic concepts
  2. During summer break students will have the chance to practice algebraic concepts with teacher support that will keep them connected with math.
  3. Every week work will be checked and feedback with recommendations will be provided.
  4. Small amounts of problems and customized instruction will make the class enjoyable.
  5. Teacher support and guidance will assure students progress.
Curriculum and Schedule
  • Week 1, June  18th-22nd
Translating words into symbols and equations
  • Week 2, June  25th-29th
Integers - using integers on a number line, opposites and absolute value
  • Week  3, July   2nd-6th
Using real numbers properties to add and subtract integers. Application:
Solving addition and subtraction  equations.
  • Week 4​, July   9th-13th
Using real numbers properties to multiply and divide integers. Application:
Solving  multiplication and division equations.
  • Week 5, July  16th-20th
Exponents and Power of Monomials
  • Week 6, July  23rd-27th
Exponents and Power of Monomials
  • Week 7, July  30th -Aug. 3rd
Multiply polynomials by monomials(distributive property)
  • Week 8,  Aug.  6th-10th
